Well now no one is safe.

It seems that because Joe Wurzelbacher aka "Joe the Plumber" has caused an illumination into his Lordship Barack Obama's penchant for redistribution of wealth, the press is now apparently investigating him.

From the Politico:

The Toledo Blade is reporting that Joe the Plumber is actually not licensed. But that, combined with his apparent tax lien, isn't lessening McCain's ardor.

He said in an interview with Fox's Carl Cameron today that he hoped to hook up with the instantly famous Ohioan soon.

"I'm probably going to call him this morning," McCain said. "I thought he would probably be up late. I heard that his --- that his phone lines were pretty well flooded. But I think we're going to be spending some time together."

What the hell does the staus of his license got to do with the question at hand that Obama's tax plan will hurt middle class businessmen like Joe?

We definitely need a free press - I'd never say anything different.

Unfortunately, far too many in the media have used the free press clause of the first amendment to absolve themselves of the obligation of acting responsibly, to say nothing about acting honorably.

I started right in on trying to figure out the answer to this vexing question: how to make my site accessible to handheld devices with a separate CSS file without the browser reading the style sheet all the time. I didn't really solve it but I got rid of some of the background color and it seems to have fixed it up somewhat. But it still won't ignore some of the elements I want it to.

I'm afraid I"m not a natural programmer. Notify the press

Now I have to do some writing, in both classes. That I can do. It's sort of a relief.

I think it was kind of funny that McCain criticized Obama for not wanting to engage in any more town hall style debates, when he was obviously MUCH less nervous with the more typical style of last nightapos;s debate. He only said "my friends" (or maybe it was just "my friend") once that I noticed. I did get rather tired of hearing about Joe the Plumber (hey, he and Alexander the Great have the same middle name), though. Yeah, his taxes would go up if he owned his business, but wouldnapos;t he also be making more money? I donapos;t know. I wish theyapos;d occasionally direct their responses to those of us who DONapos;T want to own our own businesses.

I also found it absurd when McCain was criticizing Obamaapos;s health care plan, saying that it might not let employers choose the plan that they think best for their employees. Um, do employers EVER do that, except possibly when their employees are friends and family? Besides, Iapos;ve never totally understood the "you donapos;t get to choose your doctor" argument, as I donapos;t really WANT to choose my own doctor. I mean, if Iapos;m looking at a list of doctors, how do I know which one is the best? Iapos;d like the freedom to STOP seeing a particular doctor if they suck, but I donapos;t think anyone is considering taking that away. Of course, this is kind of a moot point anyway, considering that Obama never said you WOULDNapos;T be allowed to choose your own doctor or plan under his proposal.

I appreciate that Obama actually brought up some of the things that McCainapos;s supporters had been saying about him, and I donapos;t think McCain really came up with a good argument. "Yes, there are a few bad apples, but the people who come to these rallies are great people" I always figured they were just people who had enough free time and money to go to the events, which says nothing about their character. Itapos;s not McCainapos;s fault if someone yells out "terrorist" when heapos;s talking about Obama, but he didnapos;t even say anything about the comment. And what about how your vice-presidential candidate claimed that Obama was "palling around with terrorists"? Is she just one of the few bad apples you mentioned? The whole Ayers thing is really grasping at straws anyway.

Oh, and I liked how the moderator called bullshit on both candidatesapos; claims about not raising taxes. Yeah, Iapos;m sure that, what with the economic crisis, two wars, and a huge national debt, we can cut taxes with no problem And speaking of the economic situation, remember how McCain mentioned how throwing money at something (it might have had to do with education, but I canapos;t recall for sure) was a bad idea? You mean like the government threw a bunch of money at Wall Street?

To steal a line from my favorite webcomic "throw all that other shit in the garbage."

They asked McCain and Obama about education tonight. They both talked a lot about their policies and the beliefs they approach teaching with.

Iapos;m not going to say I know everything about education, but itapos;s definitely the most important thing in the world to me. It was my major, it is my future, and it is arguably the most important issue which shows a personapos;s character.

I donapos;t care which way you vote. I donapos;t care if you want to argue about which health care plan is socialist or which crazy person they picked to be their vice president. I donapos;t care if you are concerned with their Iraq policy or how they look at other countries, or if they want to talk to other leaders or not. I donapos;t care if you think the tax cuts need to be up top to start growth or down low to help people.

I donapos;t care if youapos;re as liberal as I am or as conservative as the few of those people we know, or even if youapos;re whatever Doug and Adam are now. You need to look at what they said about education.

And you need to be very, very careful about what youapos;re voting for.

Because no matter how little faith you have in the government, your vote, the state you live in, or the supposed differences between the parties... One of these people is going to pick your next Secretary of Education. One of these people is going to reform No Child Left Behind and other programs.

And they absolutely do not want to do the same thing.

Goal: Finish the Newspaper-Face oil by this week.

I must make a public statement about this, or Iapos;ll never finish I WILL do this. Iapos;m superhuman, you see. :(

Now, what to do about the next project...

I want to do an abstract one with wax and other multimedia textures on Ms. Joyceapos;s square boards, along the same vein as the Newspaper-Face oil. It will be called the Snail-Stomach Skeleton texture.

I also want to do another oil, but with a lot more color-play, and with a landscape, because I never do any. I might still have some small humans, because I canapos;t resist. Itapos;s just that Iapos;ve been doing people because I love people, but I realize I canapos;t do people all the time.

I kind of want to do a chalk pastel with really dramatic lighting, like at night or something.

Also, a watercolor trompe lapos;oeil. Just because a trompe lapos;oeil would be fun, and Iapos;m comfortable watercoloring. Actually, I really want to do a trompe lapos;oeil, so maybe Iapos;ll incorporate it into the night idea.

When I get ideas, I organize them into two columns: Execution and Idea. I have all these techniques/styles I want to try out, which I file under Execution. Mainly I look at other peoplesapos; visual art for Execution ideas, because I donapos;t have much experience myself and itapos;s fun to experiment but not that fun. Itapos;s interesting to see what compositions and visual effects make me or other people feel. Like, why does this work, and how? Then I have ideas or concepts I want to execute onto paper, which I file under Idea. I get ideas from just ~Life, mostly, but theyapos;re the feeling or thought behind the thing that ties all the Execution together. For instance, I really liked Faulknerapos;s Sound and the Fury, so I did a bunch of stuff for each of the four sections in the book because the ideas and emotions were so palpable.

Sometimes I wonder why I spend so much time on a useless diversion like painting. :/ And now I have to go do Mr. Drainapos;s Application Essay Workshop. I hope itapos;s relatively painless. Ughhhhhh.

Today in Class 5-2. Slice-of-life about a class of fifth graders. Creepily ecchi. Doesnapos;t help at all when there are certain moments where the characters are drawn in a more serious, older, mature look.

Yozakura Quartet. Fantasy action series revolving around city of a mixed human and spirit population. The actual action I didnapos;t think to be that impressive but the interaction between the main cast of super powered characters is fairly interesting.

Akane Iro ni Somaru Saka. Romantic comedy thatapos;s... Just... Uhm... I donapos;t know what to say about this show. I canapos;t really think of anything good to say about this series. Iapos;m going to need more than two episodes to make any sense of it.
